Live event video
When our long standing client Bell Group booked their two day annual conference linked to a gala dinner for the George & Annette Bell Foundation, they had no hesitation in asking us to create a live event video.
Our crew of five at the ICC Birmingham captured all of the key note addresses as well as simultaneous break sessions totalling 21 hours of coverage over the two days. As you can imagine, live event video of this nature requires meticulous planning and liaison with the venue to ensure that all goes smoothly. The sound feed is of course crucial, and while we had some challenges at first in picking up the supplied feed, eventually these were overcome to ensure every moment was captured.
Coordination of the film crew was key, using personal radios, the director was able to direct each camera to exactly the required position as well as keeping an eye on our photographer to make sure that he too was in the right place at the right time.
The short breaks between each address was just enough time to collate the memory cards and make sure they were safely downloaded before moving on to the next event.
The gala dinner used as its centrepiece, a film shot earlier in the year with George & Annette to allow them to explain the philosophy behind the creation of the foundation to the audience. Displayed on wide screens throughout the UVB Birmingham the carefully scripted film delivered exactly the right message.
Live event video is challenging but ultimately rewarding for our experienced crew at Copper Tree Media. Editing to create informative records of the break out sessions for those unable to attend, complete with subtitles to ensure maximum inclusion was a long but ultimately satisfying task and an overview highlights film created just the right tone, delivering the serious nature of the company’s future plans as well as some of the lighter moments of what was a memorable event for all who attended.
