As part of a fascinating project to create a film showcasing a new facility for the disposal of chemical weapons from WW1, we were able to create this moving tribute to the fallen. Filmed in Flanders Fields in and around Ypres, Belgium in April, the memorials and cemeteries of the Menin Gate, Tyne Cot, New Buttes, Polygon Wood, Aeroplane Cemetery, Saint-Charles-de-Potyze and Langemark leave every viewer moved the the sheer scale of the sacrifice.
Combining aerial and land based footage gave us the opportunity to bring a new dimension to these sites and hopefully raise awareness for the younger generation. We feel it is important that these brave soldiers from all sides in the conflict are never forgotten and we hope our film contributes to the memory. Finding the name of a previously unknown ancestor on the Menin Gate memorial left the Copper Tree team deeply moved and humbled.
We have received many hundreds of kind words about our film which has been shared by Visit Flanders and several other agencies: we hope you will feel the same.
